KYG Trade’s Global Expansion: Building a Team Where International Trade Happens

Four years ago, nearly everyone at KYG worked in the United States.

Today, our team spans North America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. We have professionals working across the United States, Canada, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Poland, Ukraine, Armenia, India, Pakistan, Japan, Nigeria, and Rwanda. Our global team collaborates every day on customer projects, software development, trade compliance services, customer support, marketing, sales, and product innovation. Existing workforce records confirm KYG’s growing international presence across multiple continents.

And this is not an accident. It’s a deliberate strategy driven by the realities of modern trade.

Our customers operate globally. Their suppliers are global. Their compliance obligations are global. Building a team close to the markets, industries, and customers we serve helps us bring more regional insight, broader expertise, and stronger customer engagement into everything we do.

Building a Modern Global Company

Not long ago, operating a company across a dozen countries required layers of infrastructure, local offices, and administrative complexity. Today, technology has fundamentally changed what’s possible.

Cloud-based collaboration platforms, AI-assisted productivity tools, digital HR systems, modern project management software, and connected business applications make it possible for highly distributed teams to operate as a single organization. At KYG, employees collaborate every day through Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, cloud development environments, AI-powered tools, digital workflows, and modern business operations platforms. These technologies allow engineering, customer success, marketing, trade compliance, product development, and executive leadership teams to work together regardless of geography.

Rather than a collection of disconnected regional teams, we’re a single organization spanning the globe.

A Global Team at Every Level

One misconception about international workforce expansion is that it only applies to support functions or entry-level positions. But this is not how KYG has grown.

Our global team includes:

  • Executives.
  • Directors.
  • Engineers.
  • Customer success leaders.
  • Trade compliance specialists.
  • Customer delivery professionals.
  • Managed services personnel.
  • Sales professionals.
  • Marketers.
  • Operational staff.

International representation exists throughout our organization, from leadership roles to highly specialized technical and trade compliance functions. We’re building teams where expertise exists and where our customers operate. This approach gives us stronger market awareness, better customer responsiveness, and greater diversity of perspective when solving complex global trade challenges.

Chennai Becomes a Strategic Hub

One of the most significant milestones in our recent growth has been the expansion of our presence in Chennai, India.

As KYG’s engineering, customer delivery, and trade operations teams have grown, we recognized the need to establish a dedicated office environment that would support collaboration, team development, and long-term investment in the region. Internal planning documents identify Chennai as a key operating hub supporting engineering, customer success, trade compliance, and customer delivery activities.

Crucially, Chennai is not simply an engineering center. The office includes professionals supporting customer-facing functions, customer success, trade operations, product delivery, and engineering. It serves as an important connection point between customer needs, product development, implementation services, and platform innovation.

Deep Trade-Tech Experience

Heading up KYG’s Chennai office is a team of professionals who have spent their careers helping organizations solve trade and technology challenges.

Balaji Balasubramanian, a leader in customer delivery and customer success, works closely with customers on implementation, operationalization, and ongoing program support. His work spans enterprise customer engagements, trade data management, origin programs, and compliance workflows.

Ganesh Krishnamurthy, who leads engineering operations, helps guide the development, delivery, and ongoing evolution of the KYG platform.

Together, Balaji and Ganesh bring extensive experience working with global trade management systems, enterprise technology implementations, customer delivery programs, and trade compliance operations. As KYG continues to grow, their roles extend well beyond managing local teams. They help connect customer requirements, engineering priorities, platform innovation, and trade expertise across the broader organization.

Supporting Customers Where They Operate

The purpose of building a globally distributed workforce is straightforward. Our customers operate around the world.

They source products across multiple jurisdictions. They manage suppliers on different continents. They navigate trade agreements, customs regulations, product classifications, sanctions requirements, origin rules, and compliance obligations that often span multiple markets at once.

Supporting those organizations requires more than just software. It requires people who understand regional business environments, local regulations, customer expectations, and the practical realities of international trade. By building teams across multiple regions, we can bring those perspectives closer to the customers we serve.

Extending Our Reach Into New Markets

Global expansion isn’t just about the places where our employees work. It’s also about where we engage.

One example is KYG’s growing collaboration with Thomas Pfennig, Founder and CEO of GOLT, and Transforming.Legal. Planning is underway for an upcoming webinar designed specifically for organizations operating in the German-speaking DACH region. The program is intended to introduce KYG’s capabilities to prospects in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland while leveraging GOLT’s industry validation and network.

The planned discussion includes topics such as sanctions compliance, export controls, circumvention risks, geopolitical uncertainty, customs modernization, and digital transformation within global trade and compliance organizations. Like our recent international conference participation and our investment in regional teams, the initiative reflects a broader commitment to meeting customers where they are.

What Comes Next

The expansion of our team is part of a larger trend. Trade compliance is becoming more global, more digital, and more data-driven. Customers increasingly need support that combines regulatory expertise, software, AI, automation, and regional knowledge.

That’s why KYG continues investing in global talent, modern operating models, advanced business systems, and regional customer engagement. Today our team stretches from North America to Europe, Asia, Africa, and beyond. We continue to add expertise in the regions where international trade happens and where our customers need support.

The future of trade compliance will be built by global teams solving global problems. And we believe the best place to build that future is where international trade happens.
