KYG Trade Heads to Mexico City for Our First International Conference
This November, KYG Trade will take an important step in our growth journey as we participate in the International Compliance Professionals Association (ICPA) Inaugural Mexico Conference. It takes place November 3–5, 2026, at the Marquis Reforma in Mexico City, Mexico.
KYG has supported trade professionals, importers, exporters, customs brokers, and multinational organizations across borders for years. But this will be the first international conference and trade show where KYG will exhibit, sponsor, and speak. It represents an exciting milestone as we continue expanding our engagement with the global trade community.
The conference will bring together customs, trade compliance, and supply chain professionals from across North America to discuss the challenges and opportunities shaping international trade. Topics will include customs compliance, origin management, trade agreements, documentation, and emerging technology. As the inaugural Mexico event hosted by the ICPA, the conference reflects the growing importance of cross-border collaboration throughout the USMCA region.
Supporting Multilingual Trade Compliance Through the Language Lounge
As part of our participation, KYG is proud to sponsor the conference’s new Language Lounge initiative. The Language Lounge will provide a dedicated area where attendees can view conference content with Spanish translation, helping make educational programming more accessible to a broader audience.
When evaluating sponsorship opportunities, we were drawn to the Language Lounge because it reflects something important about both international trade and KYG’s approach to serving the market: communication matters.
Trade compliance is inherently global. Manufacturers, suppliers, customs authorities, brokers, and importers frequently operate across languages, jurisdictions, and cultures. Creating opportunities for professionals to learn and collaborate in their preferred language helps strengthen the entire trade community.
The sponsorship also aligns with KYG’s commitment to supporting customers beyond any single market. During internal planning discussions, we viewed the Language Lounge as an opportunity to highlight KYG’s growing global reach while supporting an initiative specifically designed for the conference’s international audience.
Representing KYG in Mexico City
KYG will be represented by two professionals whose backgrounds reflect the increasingly interconnected worlds of international trade, customs compliance, and technology:
- Sergio Moreno, Managing Director, Trade and Customs.
- João Delalibera, Enterprise Account Executive.
Sergio brings a uniquely cross-border perspective to the conference as both a U.S. Licensed Customs Broker and a licensed attorney in Mexico. His experience helping organizations navigate customs regulations, trade compliance requirements, and cross-border operations reflects the integrated nature of trade throughout North America.
João works closely with importers, exporters, customs brokers, and trade compliance teams to help organizations modernize their trade operations through technology. In addition to his experience supporting global trade programs, João recently completed a postgraduate program focused on artificial intelligence and machine learning, bringing valuable insight into how emerging technologies can be applied to real-world trade and compliance challenges.
Together, Sergio and João represent an important trend shaping the industry today: the convergence of trade expertise, regulatory knowledge, and technology innovation. As customs authorities and businesses increasingly rely on data, automation, and AI-enabled workflows, organizations need professionals who understand both the regulatory requirements and the technologies helping manage them.
Sergio Moreno to Participate in USMCA Origin Verification Session
During the conference, Sergio Moreno will participate in a session titled “USMCA Origin Verification — Building an Audit-Ready Support File.”
The session will examine the supporting documentation needed for USMCA origin verification beyond the Certification of Origin itself. Discussion topics include bills of materials, supplier documentation, manufacturing records, payment information, and other evidence used to support origin claims. Attendees will also hear practical strategies for preparing for origin verification reviews and maintaining audit-ready support files.
This topic is increasingly relevant as customs authorities place greater emphasis on documentation, substantiation, and verification. Organizations are discovering that successful trade compliance depends not only on making the correct origin determination but also on maintaining the evidence needed to support that determination when reviewed by customs authorities.
Given Sergio’s experience as both a customs broker and attorney, he brings a practical perspective to the discussion that bridges legal requirements, customs procedures, and operational realities.
Looking Ahead
Mexico remains one of the United States’ most important trading partners, and the USMCA continues to shape sourcing, manufacturing, and trade compliance strategies across North America.
For KYG, participation in the ICPA Inaugural Mexico Conference represents more than attendance at another industry event. It marks our first international conference sponsorship and exhibition and reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting the global trade community.
Through our sponsorship of the Language Lounge and the participation of Sergio Moreno and João Delalibera, KYG is proud to support dialogue across languages, borders, and disciplines. From customs compliance and USMCA origin verification to AI-enabled trade processes, we look forward to participating in conversations that are shaping the future of international trade.
If you’ll be attending the conference in Mexico City, stop by and meet the KYG team. We’d welcome the opportunity to discuss the challenges facing today’s trade organizations. We’re always interested in exploring how companies are approaching customs compliance, origin management, documentation readiness, and technology adoption in an increasingly complex global environment.
We look forward to seeing you in Mexico City.
