KYG Trade Invests in Trade Expertise

AI Plus Subject Matter Experts Are the Future of Trade Compliance

As adoption of KYG Trade’s AI-native platform continues to grow, the company is making a significant investment in one of its core beliefs: the future of global trade compliance requires both advanced technology and experienced practitioners.

Over the past several months, KYG has expanded its leadership team with key additions across growth, trade advisory, customer success, and enterprise sales. These investments reflect a deliberate strategy to build an organization capable of helping customers not only deploy AI-assisted trade compliance technology, but also operationalize it within complex, real-world regulatory environments.

That strategy is rooted in the same philosophy that guided KYG’s founding. The company was built to transform how organizations manage tariff analysis, classification, origin determination, trade data management, screening, entry audits, and compliance programs through artificial intelligence and automation. But from the beginning, KYG recognized that technology alone is not enough.

Global trade compliance remains a discipline shaped by regulatory interpretation, business judgment, risk management, and continually evolving enforcement priorities. While AI can accelerate analysis, improve consistency, automate workflows, and surface insights at scale, organizations still rely on experienced professionals to validate outcomes, advise stakeholders, manage exceptions, and translate regulations into operational decisions.

That belief has shaped KYG’s recent hiring strategy.

Puneet Dhillon, Director, Growth

The first major addition came with Puneet Dhillon, Director of Growth. Puneet joined KYG following a career spanning freight forwarding, transportation, and logistics, including enterprise-facing roles at Flexport and C.H. Robinson. Her experience includes helping large organizations evaluate logistics solutions, driving customer adoption, navigating complex stakeholder environments, and understanding the operational realities of global trade.

In her previous roles, Puneet worked directly with enterprise customers, leading engagements from discovery through implementation, expanding product adoption, developing relationships across multiple decision-makers, and helping organizations improve supply chain execution. That experience provided firsthand insight into the challenges companies face as they attempt to manage transportation networks, customs requirements, brokers, suppliers, trade data, and internal systems simultaneously.

Ms. Dhillon’s prior sales and trade experience positions her perfectly to lead KYG Trade’s growth in this critical phase of its development.

As demand for KYG’s platform accelerated, the company continued investing in talent that could strengthen every stage of the customer journey.

Brad Haney, LCB – Director of Customer Success

We are pleased to welcome Brad Haney as Director of Customer Success. Brad brings more than 16 years of global trade and customs compliance leadership experience from Block (formerly Square), Flexport, Amazon, KPMG LLP, and Sandler & Travis Trade Advisory Services. His experience spans enterprise trade operations, customs compliance, valuation, classification, tariff engineering, duty optimization programs, trade governance, and implementation of technology.

As KYG’s customer base continues to grow, successful onboarding and adoption become just as important as the technology itself. Brad will help ensure customers translate the capabilities of KYG’s AI-native platform into effective workflows, governance processes, and measurable business outcomes.

He will lead customer success efforts from onboarding through adoption, stabilization, and expansion, helping organizations operationalize compliance programs rather than simply deploy software.

Sergio Moreno Lagos Esq., LCB – Managing Director, Trade and Customs

We are also pleased to welcome Sergio Moreno Lagos as Managing Director, Trade and Customs. Sergio brings more than two decades of global trade advisory and compliance experience, including leadership roles at Deloitte Tax LLP, Ernst & Young LLP, and Chevez, Ruiz, Zamarripa y Cia., S.C. His work has focused on customs regulations, cross-border operations, compliance strategy, and multinational trade programs throughout the United States, Mexico, and Latin America. He is both a trade attorney and US licensed Customs Broker.

His expertise includes customs valuation, tariff classification, Free Trade Agreement origin analysis, non-preferential country of origin determinations, export and import compliance, and trade risk management.

Sergio’s addition reflects an important part of KYG’s operating model. While AI can accelerate analysis, automate workflows, surface risk indicators, and help scale compliance activities, experienced trade professionals remain essential for interpreting complex regulations, advising customers, validating conclusions, and managing exception-driven decisions.

At KYG, Sergio will help lead managed services delivery, provide senior-level import and export compliance guidance, support strategic customer engagements, and contribute to scalable delivery methodologies that combine technology with deep trade expertise.

Maria Pechurina, CCS – Enterprise Account Executive

We are equally excited to welcome Maria Pechurina as Enterprise Account Executive. Maria is a Certified Customs Specialist who joins KYG with experience at Peacock Tariff Consulting and the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce and Center for Economic Development. Her background includes tariff mitigation, HTS classification, customs compliance, international commercial diplomacy, and work within regulatory frameworks of US Customs. ITAR, and EAR.

Ms. Pechurina will help expand KYG’s reach among global shippers, manufacturers, brokers, and trade professionals by leading enterprise sales engagements and helping prospective customers understand how AI-assisted trade compliance solutions can be successfully integrated into their existing operations.

The Next Stage of KYG

These hires represent a deliberate investment in KYG’s long-term operating model: combining technology with people who have spent their careers navigating the realities of global trade. As regulatory complexity, tariff volatility, supply chain scrutiny, and enforcement activity continue to increase, organizations need more than software alone. They need expertise capable of translating compliance requirements into operational execution.  This emerging vision of automation is informally referred to as “SaS,” Services as Software.

As KYG continues to grow, our vision remains clear: combine an AI-native trade compliance platform with experienced practitioners who help customers turn technology into operational results. Artificial intelligence can accelerate trade work. Human expertise provides the context, judgment, and accountability needed to operationalize it. Together, they create a more scalable approach to global trade compliance.

Welcome to KYG, Puneet, Brad, Sergio, and Maria.
